CS2 Drop System Explained (2024): How to Get Drops, Weapon Cases & More

CSGO Drop System Explained

In CS2, the in-game drop system rewards players with skins, stickers, and other items simply for playing. These items, known as “drops,” can be obtained by participating in matches across all game modes, including competitive, premier, and deathmatch. In this blog, we’ll explain how the CS2 Drop System works and how you can maximize your rewards.

Weekly Care Packages in CS2

With the release of CS2, the drop system was revamped. Every week, players can earn a Weekly Care Package by gaining enough XP throughout the week and leveling up. To level up in CS2, you’ll need 5000 XP.

The Weekly Care Package contains:

  • First slot: Always a weapon case.
  • Other slots: Skins and graffiti items.

Here’s what the Weekly Care Package looks like:

Can You Get Multiple Case Drops in CS2?

As of June 2023, it is no longer possible to get multiple case drops in a single week. Players can only receive one Weekly Care Package per week.

Prime Drops in CS2

Prime weapon cases form part of the CS2 active drop pool, officially known as the Weekly Care Package. These cases are available exclusively to players with Prime Status, which can be obtained by purchasing the Prime Status Upgrade from the Steam store.

The current Prime Drop pool includes:

  • Kilowatt Case
  • Revolution Case
  • Recoil Case
  • Dreams & Nightmares Case
  • Fracture Case

The Kilowatt Case is the most recent addition to the Prime Drop pool. For more details on the available cases, visit CSGODatabase.

CS2 Rare Drops

When you receive a case drop, it’s typically from the active drop pool. However, there’s a small chance of receiving a rare weapon case, also known as discontinued cases. The drop rate for rare cases is incredibly low, around 1%, and some players report only receiving one rare case per year.

Rare weapon cases include:

  • Expensive cases: CSGO Weapon Case, Bravo Case, Winter Offensive Weapon Case.
  • More affordable cases: Danger Zone Case, Prisma Case, CS20 Case.

Active Drop Pool in 2024

The active drop pool in CS2 currently includes five cases:

  • Recoil Case
  • Dreams & Nightmares Case
  • Snakebite Case
  • Fracture Case
  • Revolution Case

Cases that are not part of the active pool are still dropped, but at a much lower rate. For a comprehensive list of drops, visit the CSGO Database website: CSGO Database – Available Drops.
